What To Expect From A Reading

Choosing which Medium to have a reading with should not be a decision taken lightly. An irresponsible Medium can cause more grief than they may be trying to help eleviate.  Be clear in your mind about what you're looking for from your sitting and take time to discuss with the Medium before your reading starts about the service they offer.  Often a little understanding of what a Medium can actually achieve in a sitting will help avoid any disappointment. This need not be a lengthy conversation because of course, you wouldn't want to discuss any details about yourself.  You really just want to get a feel for what the Medium can offer as part of their service.  A reading should be a positive experience for you. 

Before your sitting begins, it is important to be a little informed.  Claire always takes time at the beginning of every reading to explain how she works and what to expect from her readings.  What To Expect From A Reading

 

• The purpose of your reading by the Medium is to provide (without scientific proof) evidence of the survival of death and the continuation of life. The Medium will have done their job if

they establish a link with a communicator from Spirit and you understand who is communicating,

they give evidence of survival of death in the form of information you already know or can research,

they describe what the overall message from Spirit is for you. 

 

• Mediumship is always experimental in nature and therefore specific outcomes can never be guaranteed

 

• The Medium is NOT a fortune teller. There is a difference between a purely psychic reading and a reading with a Medium. For example, a psychic tarot card reader who works only psychically, will not describe to you a loved one who has passed.  The focus in the reading is more likely to be on areas of your life and possibly future predictions.  The Medium's primary purpose is to make a connection with the spirit world, not to make predictions of the future.  Understanding this is key.  There is nothing wrong with experiencing a psychic reading that focuses on fortune telling if that is what you are looking for, as long as you understand up front what your reading is likely to achieve for you.  Be aware that the future is not set in stone.  It may be possible for some good psychics to be given a glimpse of a possible future outcome, but you have personal responsibility for your life.  Particular outcomes that maybe foreseen may alter given your choices in life and the subsequent paths you choose to take.  You are in control of your destiny.  No-one else is. A responsible Medium never knowingly predicts the death of another person

 

• It is possible that the Medium will give you information about an imminent future event, ie a holiday coming up.  However, 9 times out of 10 this will be something you are already aware of and so constitues as evidence, not a prediction.

 

• The Medium cannot control which person or persons from the world of spirit will make contact with them and therefore you are encouraged to keep an open mind as to whom may be seeking communication with you. Coming along only wanting to hear from one particular person could lead to disappointment.

 

• A common sense approach is encouraged at all times and no life decisions should be made based on information presented during the reading

 

• It is the personal responsibility of the person receiving the reading to take ownership of their reading. The Medium cannot be responsible for how the person receiving the reading interprets the information presented to them.

 

• All Mediums work differently. In fact the nature of Mediumship in general means that when a Medium works it is not uncommon for them to make small errors during the process of trying to interpret the information they are receiving. Be aware that no reading is ever 100 percent accurate, however it should still be decidedly more accurate than inaccurate.  If you do not understand what you are being given, feel free to ask for more clarity. 

 

• Remember, any guidance you receive from loved ones, is only that - guidance.  It is only their opinion. A good Medium will never tell you what decisions to make and what to do with your life.  As you would not always take advice from loved ones when they were living here with you, do not feel you need to take their advice because they are in spirit. You are the only person with authority to make decisions about your life.  No-one else can do that for you.

 

• Please do not give the Medium any details of your life.  It makes their job harder and it may cast doubt in your mind at the end of your sitting.  Sit back and enjoy your reading.  Let the Medium do the work for you. A Yes or No answer or "I do not understand" or "yes, I can see what you mean by that" is all that's needed from you.

Foot Note. The best results are achieved when people come to a sitting with an open mind and heart.  Trying to trip the Medium up only blocks the flow of the message.  A better approach is to take the reading as it comes and to just be open minded about what you receive without being gullible.  A reading is a deeply personal experience.  Try to be aware of how the reading resonates within you. This is where the true connection from Spirit is made.  A sitting with a Medium may be an emotional experience.  If possible, try not to be too serious or intense about it. If you are able, try to relax and enjoy it. You'll be able to take much more information on board this way.
